The Sales Associate - Inside Lawn & Garden is responsible for assisting customers with their outdoor and gardening needs. This role involves providing expert product knowledge, maintaining department cleanliness, and ensuring customers have a seamless shopping experience. The associate will engage with customers, recommend products, and support daily operations in the Lawn & Garden department.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales

• Greet and assist customers in finding Lawn & Garden products.
• Provide expert product knowledge on plants, soil, fertilizers, garden tools, and outdoor furniture.
• Explain care instructions for plants, lawn maintenance products, and seasonal gardening tips.
• Recommend appropriate items based on customer needs and provide excellent service.

Merchandising & Inventory Management

• Stock and organize Lawn & Garden products, ensuring shelves are well-maintained.
• Assist with unloading and setting up seasonal plant deliveries.
• Maintain accurate price tags and promotional signage.
• Conduct inventory checks and report low-stock items.

Operational & Safety Compliance

• Follow proper safety protocols when handling plants, fertilizers, and chemicals.
• Assist customers with carrying and loading heavy Lawn & Garden items.
• Ensure the department is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Use and maintain tools, watering systems, and other department equipment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of Lawn & Garden products, including plants, fertilizers, and outdoor tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and transactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6+ months of retail, customer service, or sales experience in Lawn & Garden or a related field.
• Experience working with plants, gardening tools, or landscaping materials.
• Forklift or heavy equipment operation experience (if applicable).
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish preferred).

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Exposure to outdoor conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Frequent lifting, bending, and standing.
• May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.
